[b_b] In the early twentieth century people began to build elegant art nouveau villas, dominated by luxuriont vegetation, along the marine coastal strip of Sferracavallo to Isola delle Femmine. From that time on there was increasing urban development and now in the summer is one of the most important seaside resorts of the coast of Palermo. Despite this, still today you can recognise the original urban structure and appreciate the intimacy typical of marine communities. Small typical restaurants where you can have seaside specialities, fishmongers shops that on their slabs display local fish and small handicraft shops bear witness to a strong desire to recover and maintain local traditions.

Cosmas and Damian, during which the statues of the saints come out from the main church dedicated to them and are worn over the shoulders of the faithful in procession, accompanied by the band and followed by a big crowd. On this occasion, the village is also fillied with a lot of tourists who come to assist at the sports events held on the days preceding the procession. Among the races, the most popular by the turists one is the contest between brightly coloured boats held in the sea in front of the village.
